CARM Launch Complete
Information c/o: Canada Border Services Agency
The Canada Border Services Agency’s (CBSA) Assessment and Revenue Management (CARM) program is now the official system for all importers and trade partners for all goods coming into Canada. As of Oct. 21, all duties and taxes must be paid directly to CBSA.
Key Points:
- Registration is Mandatory: If you import goods into Canada, you must register for CARM and obtain a Release Prior to Payment bond.
- Cutover Period Complete: The CBSA has completed its systems migration. Legacy systems like CCS and CADEX have been retired.
- CARM Client Portal: Now accessible.
- Financial Security Required: Importers must provide their own financial security (surety bond or cash deposit).
- Payment: CBSA is expecting payment directly from the importer and holds the importer fully responsible.
