We are seeking a confident and experienced Customs Rater who can deliver exceptional customer service in a fast paced, time-sensitive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

As Customs Rater, you will process import documents relating to incoming shipments. Responsibilities will include:

  • Perform customs clearance functions in a Single Window Environment;
  • Perform customs clearance functions for Courier low-value shipment, voluntary entries, temporary entries, transfers-in-bond and bonded warehouse entries;
  • Evaluate Customs declarations, documentation and client data prior to release for compliance and reporting purposes;
  • Arrange on-forwarding and delivery.

The ideal candidate must have excellent working knowledge of tariff classification, end use certificates, tariff treatments, valuation, CBSA computerized release system, Customs regulations and procedures, SIMA, surtax, GST/HST, CFIA, NRCAN, Transport Canada, and requirements of Participating Government Departments (PGAs).

Accurate data entry and attention to detail is essential to succeed in this position.

Qualifications and Experience: 

  • Post-Secondary Education;
  • Any combination of the following industry-specific education would be considered an asset:

              –  CSCB Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) Designation and/or,
              –  CSCB Certified Trade Compliance Specialist (CTCS) Designation and/or,
              –  Brokers Licence.

  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Good organizational and communication skills;
  • Analytical and time management skills;
  • Commitment to teamwork;
  • Five or more years of customs rater experience.
